The Under 13 Boys California Northstars capture the 25th Annual San Francisco Cup during the Memorial Day Weekend. After completing a clean record through the preliminary games with three wins, the Northstars were facing a tough match with the SF Glens in a semi-final game. With both teams playing a pretty even match throughout the entire game, the match had to be decided with penalty kicks. Once again, with both teams matching each other in penalty kicks made, it came down to Northstar goalkeeper Tony Ayala stopping one of the five kicks and sending the Northstars into the championship game on Monday. During the championship game, the wind played a huge factor. With the advantage of the wind to the Northstars back during the 1st half, the team was only able to get off five shots at goal. During the 2nd half and now fighting the wind, the Northstars were able to score by getting off a 30 yard shot from our midfield, catching the SF Viking's goalkeeper off his line. Within 10 minutes after the first goal, the second goal was scored from outside the penalty area and finding the back of net for a 2-0 lead. The final goal came within 10 minutes of the end of the game to seal the win and the right to raise the Championship trophy.
Congratulations to the U13 Boys CA Northstars for capturing the San Francisco Cup!!
