On Saturday, August 11th, the Northstars came on strong to beat a team from Santa Rosa, the Pieda, and defeated them with a 2-1 score. Later on that day, the Northstars played against a local team, the Richmond Cobras and defeated them 2-1. Returning on Sunday, August 12th, the Northstars played against a very talented team from Nevada, the Barcelona SC U14 team and walked away with a 1-1 score. Returning the following Saturday, August 18th, the Northstars faced a Juventus team, which was eventually disqualified due to improper paperwork and using 9 high school players to play in the Under 14 bracket. The Northstars held them scoreless for the first half before the Juventus team scored 5 goals. Because of thedisqualification, the Northstars were awarded the win and the right to face a team from the valley, Los Banos SC. The game was played with much intensity and came down to penalty kicks as the Northstars prevailed 6 to 5. Tony Ayala was able to save 2 of the 7 kicks to secure the win. With the final played only 90 minutes after the semi-final, the Northstars defeated the Leon SC team from Hollister, 2-0, with goals from Armando and Julian. Later on that day, as part of the award for winning the title in the Under 14 bracket, the players, parents and coaches were able to meet, greet and take pictures with former world cup goalkeeper from Mexico, Jorge Campos.
